Two-stroke

Two-stroke engines are notable over equivalent four-strokes in that they are lighter, mechanically simpler, produce higher power-weight. In the USA, two-stroke road-bikes are appearing to be less common due to emissions standards. Most 2-stroke bikes are under 500cc. 2-stroke engines have a more pronounced powerband (than 4-strokes) although some exhaust power-value systems can extend the band.

GT250 (Suzuki)

Information

In its day one of the popular 250s. Generally very reliable. Sometimes
had gearbox problems, instruments went 'cloudy' almost straight away,
rear sprockets were soft and wore out quickly.
If in good condition, should be ideal as a first bike, but maybe not
worth $1000. Maybe half that?
Age is against it.
